A bad day fishing is better than a good day on the job, and for the Texas fisherman, this is true. If you live in Texas, there are 90 freshwater and saltwater sites to fish. In the Panhandle area there is Possum Kingdom with white bass, stripers, and catfish in abundance, among others. At Lake O.H. Ivie, bass and crappie fishing are good and channel and blue cat are good at Coleman. In the lake at Colorado City with the temperature at 54 degrees, the black bass, white bass and crappies are a little slow right now, but will get better as time moves along. Lake Amistad in the Big Bend Country has good fishing for all species. If you are in a boat, everyone must have a license whether they are fishing or not, since the lake spans the border with Mexico.
Houston County in the Pineywoods area of East Texas has some of the biggest bass, coming in at 8 pounds, and the fishing is very good at this time. Lake Fork on the Sabine River has good catfish fishing on prepared baits under the roosting cormorants. The fishing in Texas State Parks is exceptional as are the large mouth bass in Choke Canyon near the San Antonio metro area.
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that may be true in Lake Texoma in the Texas and Oklahoma state line. Fishing has gotten bigger there and so are the stripers in Lake Texoma.
