Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods's list of achievements and awards extend to both his professional career and the charities he supports. He started his career in 1996; and, since then has won 66 official PGA Tour events and 22 other individual titles. He set the record as the youngest player to win a Masters, as well as the first player of African American and Asian American descent. People look up to Woods as a role model for his determination as a player and good will as a person.

Tiger Woods demonstrated a talent for golf as early as the age of two. His father was his mentor and helped him through his early career. In his online blog, Woods makes several references to his father as a supportive figure. When prostate cancer claimed his father's life in 2006, Woods left his tour for nine-weeks to deal with his grief and support his family. But, as his father would have wanted, Woods never turned his back on golf. He returned to the tour and continued a very successful career. Since 1996, Woods has impressed the nation as the number one golfer. Although he has suffered a few set backs because of injuries and some off-games, he is still revered as one of the best professional golfers.

Woods has been very generous with his earnings and applies his image and funds to charitable causes. He helped to build the Tiger Woods Foundation to support youth in achieving their goals by offering learning programs and scholarships. The Foundation's goal is to help young people realize their hopes and dreams, much like Tiger Woods did as a young boy. Woods also supports a number of other charities, fund raisers, and foundations like the Chevron World Challenge and Tiger Jam.
